Cohn Slater handles administrative appeals of nonfinal and final orders from all state agencies and the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings (DOAH).
Dwight Slater, a Board-Certified Appellate Specialist, handles the firm’s administrative appeals. He has practiced in all five of Florida’s district courts of appeal, the Florida Supreme Court, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
While serving as a Senior Attorney for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration and the Florida Department of Financial Services, Attorney Slater handled administrative appeals, including license denials and disciplinary actions, emergency suspensions and immediate final orders, and Medicaid Program Integrity matters.
While serving as Chief Appellate Counsel at the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), Slater oversaw many complex administrative law appeals, including rule challenges and licensure sanctions against accountants, contractors, pari-mutuel gaming facilities, and real estate agents and agencies, among others.
Additionally, Slater has served on the Florida Bar’s Appellate Court Rules Committee’s Administrative Practice Subcommittee.
